It doesn’t have to be St. Patrick’s Day to enjoy a tall cup of cold brew Irish coffee. What’s not to like when you can combine the tastes of extraordinary spirits with notes of toffee, butterscotch and vanilla?
We love that all year long. We love it in a steaming cup fresh from the coffee pot. We also love it in a cold brew.
You haven’t tried Irish Whiskey Infused Coffee in a cold brew? Summer is the perfect time to add this cool coffee beverage into your regular rotation.
Whether you’re a dedicated cold brew coffee drinker or you’re ready to give it a try for the first time, you’ll appreciate the way this Spirit Infused Coffee creates an incredible cold cup of coffee. There are two basic ways to make it happen, and it couldn’t be easier.
Making Irish Whiskey Infused Coffee with your French press is as simple as can be. It just takes longer to steep, but believe us when we say that it’s worth the wait.
We recommend starting with a 1:8 coffee-to-water ratio in your press. So, for example, you could use 75g (about 5 tbsp) of ground coffee with 600ml (about 2.5 cups) of water. Once you’ve stirred it, leave it to steep for 16 to 24 hours at room temperature. Then press the coffee and place it in the refrigerator to get nice and cold.
Once it’s chilled follow the recipe below.
If you’re not a French press person, it’s no problem. You can make delicious cold brews with a simple jar and something to strain the coffee.
The same 1:8 coffee-to-water ratio applies here. Stir the coffee into the water and then let it steep at room temperature for up to a day. When you’re ready, you’ll simply have to strain the coffee grinds out.
Here’s where you have some options. You can use a paper, cloth or metal filter, and your choice will affect affect the body, or perceived thickness, of the coffee.
A paper filter will remove most of the oils from the coffee. Cloth filters remove a little oil. And metal filters remove none of the oils. Try them out to see which option delivers the best cup of coffee for your taste preferences.
Once the coffee is strained, again, simply refrigerate the coffee until it’s good and cold. You’ve got the perfect summer drink.
