Emergency medical services teams and paramedics have to be ready for anything. We rely on them to be prepared to save a life at a moment’s notice.
We need them at their best — so it’s absolutely essential that we are there for them when hard times come. That’s why, on Giving Tuesday, the Fire Department Coffee Foundation is honored to contribute $1,500 to the EMS FDNY Help Fund.
This amazing organization is dedicated to ensuring the security of EMS, paramedics and their families in the event of death, injury, illness or hardship. They strive to provide these heroes with priceless peace of mind, knowing that they or their families will always be taken care of, no matter what.
The EMS FDNY Help Fund is raising money for a variety of worthy efforts that include supporting EMS and paramedics during times of financial distress to provide mental health counseling during these difficult days.
Few have felt the daily burdens of the COVID-19 pandemic more than medical professionals, who selflessly risk their own health to ensure that others are receiving the care that they need. In a city as large as New York, it’s a tall task. And EMS and paramedics carry the weight of that mission on their shoulders.
That’s why the EMS FDNY Help Fund has partnered with the NYC Trauma Recovery Network to provide free and confidential trauma counseling services to FDNY EMS members.
“When disaster strikes, we as first responders are on the front lines dealing with the most immediate physical needs of the community; however, our own mental health needs are often neglected,” said Paramedic Lieutenant Anthony Almojera. “It’s critical that FDNY-EMS members have easy access to specialized trauma therapy so that we’re able to continue doing our jobs with the intensity and focus demanded of us.”
At Fire Dept. Coffee, we are so grateful for organizations like the EMS FDNY Help Fund, and we are honored to stand with them in support of their important mission.
