Creativity is at the heart of all great coffee.
We spend a lot of time perfecting each new blend, from sourcing the right beans to identifying the best approach to infusing and roasting. It’s our chance to play mad scientist (and taste test a lot of coffee), and we love it.
Now we’ve learned that a lot of our customers are getting creative, too. They’re combining their favorite blends to come up with new, unique tastes. This is so cool. It’s easy to do, and it opens up a world of coffee possibilities.
Want to give it a try?
The process is simple. Instead of two scoops (2 Tbsp per 6 fl. oz.) from the bag of your chosen roast, you’ll take one scoop (1 Tbsp) of two different roasts and combine them. The results might just amaze you.
To help get you get started on your coffee combo adventure, here are five suggestions that we know will come together for an exceptional coffee-drinking experience.
Vanilla Bean Bourbon Infused Coffee + Black Cherry Bourbon Infused Coffee
Our Bourbon Infused Coffees are always among our most popular, so this combination of two of our most well-received roasts makes complete sense — and it’s drawn rave reviews. One tablespoon of Vanilla Bean Bourbon Infused Coffee and a tablespoon of Black Cherry Bourbon Infused Coffee (per 6 fl. oz.) brings together notes of rich vanilla with the tartness and sweetness of the black cherries. You’ll certainly taste the premium bourbon, but it remains a subtle compliment that brings it all together.
Irish Whiskey Infused Coffee + Vanilla Bean Bourbon Infused Coffee
Lovers of fine spirits can always detect the distinct differences between good whiskey and good bourbon. And while you may not want to combine the actual spirits themselves, combining their infused coffee counterparts delivers a delicious surprise. The Irish Whiskey Infused Coffee and notes of the Vanilla Bean Bourbon Infused Coffee play extremely well together, and the result is the perfect touch for a strong finish.
Double Chocolate Donut + Red Velvet Donut
When you go to your favorite local donut shop, do you fill your box with a dozen (or two) of the same donut? Doubtful. There are too many good donuts to limit yourself. So why do it with our Donut Shop coffee blends? Start with a tablespoon of Double Chocolate Donut Coffee and add a tablespoon of Red Velvet Donut Coffee (per 6 fl. oz.) for a rich, indulgent taste that gets your day off to the sweetest start ever.
Skull Crushing Espresso + Your Favorite Roast
We’ve all got our favorite, go-to roasts that we keep coming back to again and again. Yet there are always those days when we need a little extra energy that we get from an added boost of caffeine. We've got you covered. Our Skull Crushing Espresso is a rich, full-bodied coffee that can be added to any other roast. You won’t miss out on any of the delicious flavor notes of your favorite Fire Department Coffee. It’ll just be bigger and bolder, and you’ll be ready to take on the day. For best results, use in a standard drip brewer.
Decaf + Your Favorite Roast
We get it. There are 24 hours in the day, and there are times when you just don’t need that full dose of energy-giving caffeine racing through your veins. But you still want a little something to get you from Point A to Point Pillow. Here’s your solution. Combine a tablespoon of our Medium Roast Decaf Coffee with your roast of choice (2 tablespoons of ground coffee for 6 fluid ounces). The result will still hit all the right notes, but it’ll pack only half the caffeine. So you’ll be good to go when it’s time to hit the hay.
Those are just some of our favorite options, but with a selection like ours, you can get creative and come up with dozens of combo options. Try out a few different mixes and see what you like best. Then let us know in the comments your favorite combinations. We love hearing how you’re enjoying our coffee — and we’re always looking for new ways to enjoy it ourselves.
