Boozy Shakerato Recipe with Irish Whiskey Infused Coffee

November 18, 2020

Looking for a shakerato recipe? Traditionally, this Italian drink only involves espresso, ice cubes and a non-alcoholic syrup. However, the addition of Irish whiskey can turn it into a delicious cocktail to enjoy after dinner or with friends.

As well as this boozy twist, we have another special secret to share with you: using Irish Whiskey infused coffee to brew your espresso shot. Oh yeah.

Boozey shakerato recipe with Egan’s Whiskey & spirit infused coffee

Our exclusive shakerato recipe makes one cocktail, but be prepared to double or multiply the doses when you realize how incredible it is and you’ll have to prepare it for all of your friends.

You’ll need:

  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) of cold-brewed coffee concentrate made using our Irish Whiskey infused coffee
  • 2 oz (60 ml) of Egan’s Irish Whiskey
  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) of heavy cream
  • 15 ml (0.5 oz) of brown sugar syrup
  • A pinch of salt
  • Ice cubes
  • A cocktail shaker
  • A couple of coffee beans for garnish

1. Brew a large shot of cold brew concentrate

For the best results, you need a strong shot of espresso and you need it to be cold, not traditional black coffee nor the usual hot temperatures. We recommend prepping ahead by brewing a cold brew concentrate, letting it sit in the fridge overnight, and straining it the following day.

Do you want a shakerato today or as soon as possible? Then go ahead and brew a large espresso shot (just for this time!), but leave it in the fridge for a few minutes before proceeding with the rest of this shakerato recipe.

No espresso machine? Relax. Here are some alternative ways to make espresso without it.

Whatever you decide to do, aim for 1.5 oz and make sure you use our Irish Whiskey infused coffee to double up on the flavor of your Egan’s shot.

2. Mix the other ingredients

Grab a cocktail shaker or anything else that you can use as a replacement without ending up spreading its content onto your kitchen walls.

Add 1.5 oz of heavy cream, 0.5 oz of brown sugar syrup and 2 whopping oz of Egan’s Irish Whiskey. For a balanced result, add a sprinkle of salt (trust us).

Now give us your best barman-style show and shake it ‘til you make it.

3. Pour it and garnish it

When it looks thick and frothy, chuck a few ice cubes into a glass and pour your cocktail on top of them slowly.

To impress your guests even more, don’t forget to add a couple of coffee beans on top: if you’ve shaken it long enough to thicken it up, they won’t sink.

Enjoy!
