Introducing Guatemala El Progresso San Antonio, the exclusive coffee for November 2021 to Coffee of the Month Club members.
From the highest non-volcanic mountain chain in Guatemala comes this incredibly smooth coffee. Its unique flavor profile is attributed to the humid forest micro-climate, where the beans are grown beneath the shade of tall pines.
Each taste reveals notes of orange, cherry and caramel. The coffee has an mild body and acidity to go with an appealing sweetness.
This masterpiece is a labor of love for 225 small farmers in the San Antonio La Paz region of El Progresso department in the heart of Guatemala. The farms in this area average just 3 acres in size, but the beans they produce create one of the most memorable cups of coffee you’ll ever enjoy.
Beans are typically harvested at 1,200 to 1,400 feet above sea level on the Sierra de Las Minas mountain range. Varietals of Bourbon, Castillo and Caturras are fully washed and then dried using a two-step process that includes patios and a solar drying machine. Beans are harvested in November and exported the following year.
Guatemala El Progresso San Antonio is a departure from the coffee more commonly raised in the western parts of the nation. And it now takes its place among the finest coffees from one of the finest coffee regions in the world. Our coffee is roasted to order and delivered fast and fresh. Fire Department Coffee gives back to our fellow firefighters and first responders who have been injured on the job, mentally or physically, or who are facing other serious health challenges.
