Introducing Mexican Chiapas Coffee, the exclusive coffee for October 2021 to Coffee of the Month Club members.
Chiapas, Mexico’s southernmost state, where we have sourced the exquisite beans used to create this month’s roast.
This region bordering Guatemala is known for producing incredible coffee, notable for its delicate flavor that satisfies with every sip. Chiapas Coffee has a medium acidity, a bold body and a low level of sweetness.
Varietals include Bourbon, Caturra, Mundo Novo & Typica. In each cup, you’ll discover notes of orange, milk chocolate and almond.
Chiapas mountain ranges provide an ideal altitude — 900 to 1,000 feet — and climate for growing specialty coffee that produces a dense and vibrant flavor profile. The vast majority of farms in the area are small, family-owned plots under 10 acres in size. Coffee is dried in the sun on patios and in mechanical dryers, known as guardiolas, when needed.
If you’ve enjoyed Guatemalan coffee, particularly from its Huehuetenango region, then you’ll be happy to note some tasting similarities. Yet Chiapas Coffee stands on its own with a flavor profile that will keep you coming back for one more cup.
Fire Department Coffee gives back to our fellow firefighters and first responders who have been injured on the job, mentally or physically, or who are facing other serious health challenges.
