Coffee of the Month Club: Sumatra Mandheling Coffee from Indonesia

May 31, 2021 1 Comment

Introducing Sumatra Mandheling, the exclusive coffee for June 2021 to Coffee of the Month Club members.

Originating from Northern Sumatra province in Indonesia, this exceptional coffee features notes of molasses, black pepper and dark chocolate. It has a low acidity to go with above average body and sweetness. The varietals in this blend include Catimor, Caturra and Typica.

Sumatra Mandehling is one of the most distinctive coffees you’ll ever taste, and it’s produced primarily by small farmers in one of the world’s foremost coffee regions. Beans are harvested beginning in June at 1,000 meters. They are typically wet-hulled, a processing method unique to Indonesia due to unpredictable rains during the drying season. The beans are pulped and dried to a specific moisture level before hulling. Then they are patio or machine dried before being exported in October.
